The Friends are hosting several events throughout the month of October to celebrate National Friends of Libraries Week (October 17-23).

Art Exhibit: The Friends are hosting this month’s art exhibit in the library’s Community Room, featuring local artist Katie Deakin. Her colorful acrylics feature beautiful creatures in her exhibit titled Wonderful Wildlife, now on public display through October 28.

50 50 Drawing: Tickets are $2.50 each or 5 for $5.00. Winner gets half the proceeds, while the rest benefits the Friends. Please purchase tickets at the Main Desk, drawing is on October 30.

Junior Friends Candy Corn Contest: The Junior Friends are holding a free contest for all ages! Guess the number of candy corns in the jar on the Friends shelf in the library. The person with the closest guest will win a $25 Target card on October 30. Enter in person or email the Friends your guess (maxwellfriends@gmail.com; picture of candy corn jar can be found on the Friends’ Facebook page).

Fall Bulb Sale: Purchase high quality Dutch bulbs on Saturday, October 16. Quantities are limited, no preorders. Sale will begin at 11am and end when bulbs are gone! Visit the library’s website at maxwellmemoriallibrary.org for selections and prices; email the Friends at maxwellfriends@gmail.com for location.

Mischief at Maxwell: The Friends are pleased to help sponsor this family friendly event! Register on the library’s website to pick up a pumpkin to carve (one per family) and bring it back to the library by October 27. On October 28, join us for games, candy, and admire the community’s pumpkin decorations from 6 to 7pm in the library parking lot! Kids are encouraged to wear their costumes.
