Tree and Wreath Time

Each year, we donate a decorated tree to Onondaga Free Library for their Festival of Trees event, and a decorated wreath to the Octagon House for their Holiday Open House.
They provide the tree and wreath. A generous member of the Friends gave us the decorations.
Here are this year's tree, and wreath!

Curb Appeal

After one of our meetings, a few of us were outside talking when we noticed what sad shape the signs were in. Replacing them was something the Friends voted unanimously to do.
We ordered the parking signs from a veteran owned sign company in New Jersey - Safety Signs.
The price was reasonable, they arrived quickly, and were easy to install.
The wood Maxwell sign was sanded and repainted by a member of the Friends.
The finished project makes Maxwell look so much more inviting.

Busy Month of May

2015 is shaping up to be a busy year for the Friends of Maxwell.
The Geranium Sale and Garage Sale were very successful.
We were at the Memorial Day Parade on May 25, handing out balloons, flags and bookmarks.
Our meeting attendance continues to grow.
We're taking a more active interest in library issues, and needs.

Annual Membership Drive

January 20, 2015

Dear Friends and Future Friends,

We begin our 22st year since the Friends began under the leadership of Jean Eustis and Betty Smith.

We’re looking forward to another productive year funding new projects, while continuing to fund those we have in the past.

As a non-profit organization, the Friends group creates public support for the library, holds fundraising events, sponsors programs, and purchases items for the library not included in the regular budget.

When you join the Friends of Maxwell Memorial Library, you have the opportunity to be part of a group which is vital to the services your library offers. We consult with Maxwell’s director, Katy Benson, when voting on how best to use funds for the benefit of the library.

In 2014, the Friends donated $2526.00 to Maxwell, including $530.00 towards Large Print Books, $1000.00 for Summer Reading Programs, $395.00 for On the Shelf software, and 300.00 for the BookPage magazine.

A complete annual report will be available at the library, after January 31, 2015.
Income and expenses for the year, ending December 31, 2014:
2014 Income - $3628.80                 2014 Disbursements - $3091.93

Thank you for joining, or renewing, your membership for 2015.
All of our activities and meetings are optional, and we appreciate any time you’re able spend with us.

Please refer to the enclosed brochure for more information, and our membership form.

Your membership dues are a tax-deductible donation.

Sincerely,

The Friends of Maxwell Memorial Library
