Special Announcement !

Members of the Friends of Maxwell are delighted to have received a Daniel W. Casey Advocacy Certificate of Merit from the Friends Section of the New York Library Association for 2019.
Here's a portion of the letter from Marie Bindeman, Coordinator of the Daniel W. Casey Library Advocacy Award:

"Friends of Libraries Section/NYLA also awards Certificates of Merit to those nominees who have notably served.  A formal letter of notification and a Certificate of Merit will be mailed to you for sharing with Friends in recognition of the Friends of Maxwell Memorial Library for their exceptionally active and creative service to a library in a smaller community."

Thank you to NYLA's Friends Section for this recognition!

Sprucing Up Our Favorite Camera Angle

Before -

A few members of the Friends met over the July 27-28 weekend to spruce up Maxwell's signpost and the plantings around the base. First job was to scrub all the grass clippings off the signpost, then add a coat of paint. Next, the hosta and daylilies were dug out, keeping the two geranium plants - for now. The area was edged, manure, enriched soil, and peat moss were added. Finally, yellow marigolds were planted. The four bricks are temporary, but will return after they're sealed.
It was hot, buggy, and humid.

P.S. Yellow is the traditional Friends of Maxwell Memorial Library color.

The bricks are temporarily placed.

The Friends of Maxwell at the Memorial Day Parade

May 27, 2019
This was the fourth year we gave away balloons, spinners, flags, and bottled water at the Memorial Day Parade in the Village of Camillus. We also offered front row seating for Friends' members, library staff, and trustees. It was a picture perfect day. Thanks for your donations!
